Vertical Blinds

One of the most inexpensive yet elegant décor that you can add to your home is vertical window blinds. With its graceful drapes and elegant lines, they can add a lot aesthetic value to your room. You can use vertical window blinds if you want to cover your windows but you're not very fond of curtains or other window treatments.

They can come in a variety of colors and materials. Some of the styles and materials you can choose from are faux wood, vinyl, wood, aluminum, and fabric. The choices are only limited by your own personal preferences.

Operating vertical blinds is easy. You can draw them away from the window or rotate the vanes in order for you to see whatever lies outside your window.

Vertical BlindsOne of the most popular types are the aluminum ones. Many people see it as a cost-effective way of covering their windows. They aren't reall discount blinds, but they are less expensive than wood for instance. For rooms that experience high levels of humidity such as bathrooms and kitchens, you can choose to install blinds made of vinyl. They're sturdy and resistant to damage done by humidity.

The ones made of wood are ideal for rooms that have wooden furniture because they complement the decor so well. It provides an undulating effect that gives the impression that the room is more spacious than it really is. Rooms that don't experience much humidity, such as bedrooms and living rooms, are perfect for wooden blinds because they require a more controlled environment in terms of dampness.

However, wood vertical blinds are among the most expensive types available. If you don't want to spend that much for installing blinds at home, you have the option of installing faux wood instead. Faux wood looks and feels like the real thing, but they are as sturdy as vinyl. Like the vinyl type, faux wood blinds do not fade that easily and are very easy to maintain.

These blinds can also be made of fabric. These are made through utilizing inserts that give stability, shape, and ease of tilting. When I was growing up we had completely custom made blinds that were plastic but had a groove in the middle that allowed you to insert strips of wallpaper. It took all day, but my mother meticulously trimmed and inserted perfectly matching strips into each panel so they would flow seemlessly with the walls. It gave a stunning effect.

They can be operated using wands or cords. Many customers prefer the safety wands because they are more durable than cords. To maintain them, dusting, vacuuming, or applying a damp cloth is enough.

Because of the ease in maintenance, vertical blinds are becoming a more popular option for window covers. These do not need to be washed periodically after it has accumulated a certain amount of dust, thus preventing asthma attacks or other illnesses brought by allergens caught in cloth curtains.
